Partial Hospitalization Program for Teens

We provide short-term, highly structured behavioral health treatment for teenagers ages 13–18 (as long as older teens are enrolled in school) through The Horsham Clinic’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Adolescents who enroll in our PHP generally experience a degree of psychiatric distress that calls for consistency of care, but are stable enough to return home after programming. Teenagers participate in treatment that is uniquely designed for this age group, and is separate from our PHP programs for children and adults.

Partial hospitalization can provide a less restrictive treatment alternative for adolescents and their families when inpatient treatment is not needed. The PHP can also serve as an intermediate step for youths when they leave inpatient hospitalization, prior to their return to school and their community.

Program highlights:

  • Tutorial services are available five days a week by a Pennsylvania-certified teacher
  • We use a reward system for behavioral modification
  • Treatment is provided by board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists
  • We complete comprehensive after care planning to provide patients with the appropriate level of care after they leave the program
  • We offer individual, group and family therapy
  • Counselors lead group therapy sessions. Among the topics covered in these sessions are:
    • Anger management
    • Conflict resolution
    • Coping skills
    • Social skills training
  • We use a number of treatment modalities to help patients, including art, music and recreational therapy
  • Masters-level clinicians at The Horsham Clinic collaborate with schools and other service providers through proper communication and interagency meetings to help reintegrate adolescents into their school setting
  • We develop treatment plans for each adolescent, and each plan identifies the patient’s strengths and goals
  • We also offer medication management, as needed
