Teen Partial Hospitalization Program at The Horsham Clinic: Why Choose Us?

Our adolescent PHP program provides individual, group and family therapy to quiet symptoms and address their root cause. We treat some of the region’s most severe cases, including teens with psychosis. And we can help your child, too.

Highlights of our PHP mental health program include:

  • Dedicated staff: Your child receives services from a multispecialty staff. Many providers have been with The Horsham Clinic for decades. We understand what your child is going through and treat them with dignity at every turn. This depth of experience can encourage teens to open up so they can start feeling better.
  • Teen-focused treatment: Staff tailor services to address issues common in adolescence. These often include challenges with peers, family and social In some cases, substance misuse is a factor. We use research-based methods to treat the underlying cause and teach healthy coping skills they can use for life.
  • Care closer to home: Our teen PHP mental health services are available in three locations. In addition to the main campus in Ambler, adolescent programming is also available in Chester County and Delaware County. These options make it easier to fit treatment into your family’s busy schedule.
  • Seamless experience: Some teens step down to PHP mental health services after completing our inpatient psychiatric program. Providers from both programs collaborate to facilitate a smooth transition. This approach makes it easier for your child to focus on lasting changes that support their mental health.

PHP Mental Health Services for Teens: What to Expect

We provide structured treatment for adolescents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. We use a trauma-informed approach, which recognizes the effects of past trauma on a teen’s perspective and helps them avoid reliving it during treatment.

If our teen partial hospitalization program is right for your child, here’s what to expect:

  • Multispecialty evaluation: A child psychiatrist, nurses and therapists perform assessments shortly after your child completes the admissions process. Staff continue to meet regularly during your child’s treatment to tailor therapies. Parents are welcome to join some of these discussions.
  • Medications: If your teen might benefit from medications, such as antidepressants, we explain why and help you decide how to proceed. We perform frequent monitoring so your child can receive the appropriate medication and dose for their needs.
  • Group therapy and other services: Teens participate in sessions covering a broad range of topics, such as conflict management and problem-solving. Recreational therapies give teens additional options for expressing themselves through poetry, movement or crafts. Adolescents also receive one hour of tutoring daily.
  • Focus on family: Our holistic approach includes input from your child’s loved ones. We work closely with family caregivers to explain treatments and what to expect. This open communication enables you to actively participate in your teen’s care.
  • Discharge planning: The Horsham Clinic works closely with community-based organizations to coordinate services after discharge. Whether it’s your child’s primary care provider, school or another program, we share important details that help your child receive appropriate services for their ongoing needs.
